Dayasena Gunasinghe (1936 - 1996)

Dayasena Gunasinghe was born on June 13, 1936, in the village of Ingiriya in the Karatara District. Initially a teacher, he later entered journalism and became the Editor-in-Chief of several national newspapers.

Mr. Gunasena's first collection of works was the poem 'Ranthetiyaka Kandulu' published in 1974. In 1983 he published another book, Novadhim Sidhuhath, and in 1991 he published his third collection of poems, Doramadalawa. His first collection of short stories, Canal Road Nigacharayo, was released in 1985. In 1990, he wrote a collection of short stories for a night at the Hethumathi Hotel.
